Pickerel Lake is located in Harrison Hills, Wisconsin, near Gleason, Tomahawk, Merrill and Rhinelander. Snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, and boating are all accessible. Pickerel Lake is a "slow no-wake" lake offering fishing and quiet boating. It is ideal for silent sports and quiet boat rides. About 70 cottages reside on the lake. The Pickerel Lake District was formed in the 1980's to improve and maintain the health of the lake.
About Pickerel Lake District
The Mission of The Pickerel Lake District is to maintain, protect, and improve the quality of Pickerel Lake and its watershed for the mutual good of the members and the lake environment. Our Lake District was formed in 1981 due to repeated winter fish kills. The aerator was installed with assistance from government agencies interested in preservation of lake habitat. The Lake District board is comprised of 5 commissioners. 3 are elected by the lake district members, and one each is appointed by the Harrison Township board and the Lincoln County board. The official name of our Lake District is Town of Harrison Pickerel Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District. It was formed and is governed by Wisconsin State Statute Chapter 33 .
